Workshop Objectives

  • Identify common barriers faced by engineering-intended students on a precalculus pathway, whether those barriers occur in or before high school, in the first math course at a higher education institution (IHE), or at the point of transferring from one IHE to another without having completed calculus.

  • Establish cross-institutional collaborations both within and across educational levels.

  • Build on existing best practices to develop implementation plans for addressing a single barrier at multiple institutions within an educational level or across multiple levels.
